Director of Communications & Digital Engagement

The Director of Communications & Digital Engagement is responsible for overseeing NEDA’s communications and supervising the work of the Communications & Media Manager, while reporting to the President/Chief Executive Officer.  This position will look for ways to grow NEDA’s digital footprint and build strong relationships with our constituents through engaging communications.  The Director of Communications & Digital engagement will maintain and develop new websites, cross channel campaigns and constantly improve NEDA’s email delivery.  This position also oversees the NEDA Network, NEDA Ambassador Council and manages new projects on an ongoing basis to improve NEDA’s communications channels.

The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders. NEDA supports individuals and families affected by eating disorders, and serves as a catalyst for prevention, cures and access to quality care.

MEDIA

  • Work with Chief Operating Officer/CEO and Communications & Media Manager to draft public letters and op-eds during Media Watchdog campaigns.
  • Develop new process for dealing with Media Watchdog inquiries and improve the web presence of the program.

Social Media

  • Graphic design of NEDA’s social media channels (banners, backgrounds, avatars, etc.), promotional images and NEDA Walk event banners.
  • Develop social media campaigns for NEDAwareness Week and End of Year Giving.

Email

  • Oversee NEDA’s email communications calendar.
  • Edit MyNEDA emails and oversee content in accordance to NEDA’s editorial calendar.
  • Responsible for the design, strategy and creation of weekly Teamraiser coaching and recruitment emails in support of the NEDA Walks.
  • Works with STAR Program manager to create advocacy emails, looking for ways to improve effectiveness. 
  • Create emails on behalf of outside organizations, such as NEDA Network members, organizational partners and sustaining sponsors, as needed.

Website

  • Oversee NEDA’s website, creating new content (including graphical elements) and editing existing content, as needed.
  • Project manage the creation of a stand-alone NEDA Walks website being responsible for the graphic design and front end development.
  • Create new microsites, as needed

NEDAwareness Week

  • Work with the Chief Executive Officer/President and Communications & Media Manager to develop an annual theme for NEDAwareness Week.
  • Manage the design, creation and deployment of the NEDAwareness Week website.
  • Graphic design for poster, logos, campaign materials and program guides, as well as custom materials for organizational partners, as needed.
  • Develop annual cross channel campaign.

NEDA Conference

  • Develop NEDA Conference marketing plan and oversee email content.
  • Create promotional print materials.
  • Design annual call for proposals website and work with outside vendor on the creation of the NEDA Conference website, looking for future opportunities to bring this website in house at a lower cost.
  • Create conference signage and Conference PowerPoint presentation.

NEDA Network

  • Manage and grow the NEDA network
  • Oversee annual renewal and welcome series for new members.
  • Manage the NEDA Network’s online Basecamp group.
  • Host monthly meetings and webinars, as well as plan an annual in-person meeting for members each year, keeping members apprised of NEDA’s work.

Other

  • Create quarterly cover for Making Connections, as well as any additional graphics requested by the Programs Department.
  • Work with the Development Department to create NEDA’s annual report.
  • Manage NEDA’s Ambassador Council
  • Graphic design support on NEDA events and other projects, as assigned.
  • Develop and improve upon NEDA’s data analytics.
  • Quarterly board reports.
  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

  • Accept a background check to be performed
  • Minimum of 2 years experience managing a marketing department or equivalent
  • minimum 5 years of marketing/communications experience
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree
  • English
