SHRM Western North Carolina is seeking an energetic, organized, and creative Chapter Manager Intern to support the Board of Directors in executing the chapter's strategic priorities. This is a unique, hands-on opportunity for a student pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field to gain substantive professional experience in chapter operations, communications, event management, and member engagement. The intern will work directly with the Chapter President and collaborate with the full Board of Directors, gaining exposure to governance, strategic planning, volunteer leadership, and professional association management.

Key Responsibilities
1. Membership Communications & Growth
Develop, schedule, and execute email marketing campaigns to current and prospective members
Manage and grow the chapter's social media presence across platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
Create compelling content that promotes chapter events, member spotlights, HR resources, and SHRM-WNC news
Monitor engagement metrics and provide regular reporting to the Board on communication effectiveness
Support member recruitment and retention efforts, including outreach to lapsed members and prospective new members
Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with chapter goals
2. Program Planning & Event Logistics
Support the planning, coordination, and execution of chapter programs, workshops, and professional development events
Assist with event logistics including venue coordination, registration management, vendor communication, and day-of support
Coordinate speaker outreach, confirmations, and preparation materials
Help develop event promotional materials and manage RSVPs and attendee communications
Compile and summarize post-event evaluations to inform future programming
3. Membership Development & Engagement
Support initiatives to grow chapter membership and improve member engagement and satisfaction
Research and recommend best practices from other SHRM chapters and professional associations
Help design and execute member appreciation, onboarding, and welcome communications
Coordinate member surveys and compile feedback for Board review
Assist in planning and supporting member socials and cultivated networking events
4. Strategic Plan Support
Assist the Board in tracking progress toward strategic plan goals and objectives
Prepare meeting agendas, supporting materials, and minutes for Board meetings and committee calls
Maintain a chapter calendar of key milestones, deadlines, and events
Conduct research and provide data-driven insights to support Board decision-making
Help draft and update chapter policies, procedures, and operational documents
5. Sponsor Engagement & Revenue Support
Support sponsor relationship management, including preparation of sponsor packages and communications
Assist in identifying and cultivating prospective sponsors aligned with chapter interests
Coordinate sponsor recognition at events and across chapter communications channels
Help track sponsor deliverables, benefits fulfillment, and renewal timelines
Provide administrative support for revenue-generating activities and grant opportunities
