Design & Illustration Instructor

The Design & Illustration Instructor will work with a diverse team of teachers to implement our media and digital technology training. This position holds principal oversight of the training for YR Media’s design & illustration track, as well as oversees the work of interns and Project Associates -peer youth educators –that teach for the program. The ideal candidate possesses a combination of creative instructional design skills and technical knowledge and is passionate about building best in class learning  in a fast-paced environment.Applicants with experience working with Bay Area youth from different backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

  • Classroom instruction for YR Media’s design & illustration track
  • Teach design and illustration skills to groups of of 5-12 students
  • Develops graphic designs and illustration with a storytelling layout
  • Supervise team of peer youth educators
  • Evaluate student and peer youth educator projects
  • Adapt and facilitate curricula specific to youth teaching cohort
  • Incorporate media literacy into curriculum
  • Edit students’ work for accuracy and professionalism
  • Maintain classroom and building rules and a safe a professional learning/working environment
  • Model professionalism
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Accept a background check to be performed
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree
  • Knowledge in: Graphic design skills
  • Knowledge in: Adobe Systems Adobe Photoshop
  • Knowledge in: Adobe Systems Adobe InDesign
  • Knowledge in: Graphics tablets
  • Knowledge in: Desktop publishing tools
