Blue Ridge Public Radio (BPR), the nonprofit public media company of Western North Carolina, is searching for a Business Sponsorship Account Executive. The Account Executive is responsible for fundraising for BPR News and BPR Classic through the sale of all of BPR's broadcast and digital marketing products and opportunities.

The position requires a sales professional able to meet revenue goals, develop and present marketing and philanthropic opportunities to businesses and non-profit organizations. The position is mission-driven, goal-oriented, and rewarding.

The qualifications below are an example of skills that are key to this position, but we know there are great candidates who may not have all these qualities or who have important skills we haven't thought of. We're looking for candidates with:
  • Persuasive presentation techniques.
  • Ability to build relationships and grow revenue.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Self-starter with time management and organizational skills.
  • Sense of accountability and drive to meet and exceed goals.
  • Displays an understanding of audience research and its value in proposals. 
  • Computer skills that include MS Office, Salesforce or similar C.R.M.
  • Experience with media, broadcast, and audience quantitative sales software
Compensation:
Compensation is a salary plus commission structure. The base salary is $35,000-$40,000 per year, depending on experience. Commissions are based on collected revenue at 10% paid monthly. This position comes with an established client base of approximately 60 client accounts that have billed over 200k annually.  Sales territory is not limited by geography and there is not a commission ceiling (unlimited earning potential).

What you'll do at BPR

Essential Duties:
  • Achieves monthly sales goals.
  • Maintain positive relationships with existing BPR business sponsors.
  • Prospect, contact and develop relationships with businesses new to BPR.
  • Present existing BPR business sponsors with new marketing products and opportunities. 
  • Recover past business by maintaining relationships with dormant business sponsors.   
  • Develop and present multi-platform marketing campaigns 
  • Participate in on-going sales training and professional development
  • Stay informed of public media, marketing, audience and demographic trends. 
Additional duties include:
  • Attend BPR functions
  • Attend local and regional business networking events
  • Work extended hours as needed, including evenings and weekends. 
  • Regional travel in Western North Carolina as needed  
  • All other duties as assigned 
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Accept a background check to be performed
