Our energy system is on the brink of a major transformation, and we're looking for someone to help us ensure this new system puts rooftop solar energy at the cornerstone!

Our organization is growing, and we are looking for a Community Impact Fellow to join our Heartland team for a 9-month fellowship, with the potential to extend to 12 months (based on program needs and performance).

About the Fellowship

We are seeking a Community Impact Fellow to support our efforts with volunteer coordination, event management, and policy and advocacy work. The fellow will support the Heartland region, which includes Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.

This temporary part-time employment is an opportunity open to people of all educational backgrounds and work experience levels who are U.S. or Puerto Rico residents. Fellows must utilize their own computer. This position will directly report to the Community Impact Manager.

Fellows will receive college credit or an hourly wage of $17.50, with flexible work hours ranging from 15 to 20 hours per week. This role offers a fun and engaging remote work environment, with the option to work from our Washington, D.C. office near Dupont Circle. Fellows will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful and impactful projects, gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Job responsibilities include:
  • Manage regular communications with volunteer lists about relevant volunteer opportunities
  • Support volunteers with training, resources, materials and logistical coordination
  • Support advocacy campaigns through phone banking and volunteer interest tracking
  • Assist with hosting and organizing in-person and virtual educational events
  • Collaborate with the Heartland Community Impact Manager to expand volunteer programming throughout the region
Required Qualifications 
  • Excellent interpersonal and engagement skills, with a focus on collaboration
  • Ability to self-manage and multi-task for both short and long-term projects
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Upbeat attitude and willingness to help
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft office and Google docs
  • Computer access and reliable internet that supports video calls
  • Be able to work during Eastern Time Zone hours
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Demonstrates a compassionate approach in relationship building 
  • Previous volunteer and event organizing experience
  • Experience creating outreach materials to support community engagement, education, or programs
  • For candidates without a high school diploma, some previous related work experience is preferred
