The X-ray technologist will operate radiologic equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Position radiologic equipment and adjust controls to set techniques according to specification of examination. Take x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety. Assist and operate c-arm fluoroscopy equipment in Pain management procedures.
 Essential Duties:
  • Position x-ray equipment and adjust controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance.
  • Use beam-restrictive devices and patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff.
  • Position patient on examining table and set up and adjust equipment to obtain optimum view of specific body area as requested by physician.
  • Process exposed radiographs using film processors or computer generated methods.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
  • Determine patients' x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from physicians.
  • Prepare and set up x-ray room for patient.
  • Make exposures necessary for the requested procedures, rejecting and repeating work that does not meet established standards.
  • Operate digital picture archiving communications systems.
  • Transport patients to and from exam rooms.
  • Preparing progress notes for patient intake and gathering information to ensure documentation is efficiently and accurately recorded and maintained in patient charts.
  • Greets patients, introduces themselves, and escorts the patient to examination room. 
  • Screens and documents patients for appropriate information and documents in eClinicalWorks: chief complaint, history of present illness, current medications, past medical history, allergies, surgical history, hospitalizations, family history, social history, review of systems, and vitals. 
  • Prepares them for physical examination.  Instructs patients in diagnostic tests protocols.
  • Assure that sterile or non-sterile supplies such as medications, supplies, or other required equipment, are present and in working order.
  • Complete quality control activities, monitor equipment operation, and report malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
  • Maintain a current file of examination protocols.
  • Provide other technologists with suggestions of additional views, alternate positioning, or improved techniques to ensure the images produced are of the highest quality.
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a medical setting
  • Minimum High School Degree
  • Current NJ X-ray licensure
