Our energy system is on the brink of a major transformation, and we're looking for someone to help us ensure this new system puts rooftop solar energy at the cornerstone!

The Texas Program Director will lead a dynamic program focused on deploying solar energy across the State of Texas and advocating for strong distributed energy policy at all levels of government. The director will work to implement the EPA Solar for All program in Texas, lead our group purchasing campaigns for rooftop solar, manage innovative projects deploying solar in low-income communities, and guide our solar policy engagement at the Texas Legislature and the Public Utility Commission of Texas.
This position will report directly to the West Region Director.

Job Responsibilities Include:
·       Leading the SUN program in Texas.
·       Managing 1-3 direct reports or independent contractors.  
·       Developing and deepening relationships with key organizational partners and funders.
·       Working collaboratively with a set of internal regional support team members to implement SUN programs.
·       Representing SUN in coalition spaces.
·       Advocating for solar rights by lobbying elected officials and implementing public policy campaigns.
·       Deploying solar group purchase campaigns and low-income solar programs in Texas.
·       Speaking to the media on behalf of the organization.
·       Educating the public about all aspects of installing rooftop solar in Texas, including local incentives, utility rates and regulations.
·       Organizing and attending events (in-person and virtual).
·       Cultivating a donor and volunteer network in the state.
 
Required Qualifications
·       Resident of Texas
·       Minimum 5 years of experience with project management, managing teams, and building relationships
·       Strong organizational, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting skills
·       Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and strategically
·       Ability to work remotely, with frequent in-state travel

Preferred Qualifications
·       Fluency in Spanish
·       Inquisitive personality and interest in continuous learning
·       Knowledge of solar, energy, and/or environmental issues affecting Texas
·       Solar technical knowledge
